The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum has announced today that IndyCar veteran Scott Dixon will be inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame.
Dixon will join Giampaolo Dallara as the newest inductees into a prestigious list of motorsports greats.
The 45-year-old Dixon has an impressive resume at IMS, including one Indianapolis 500 win from pole in 2008.
He has gone on to earn four more Indy 500 poles and has finished on the podium a total of six times through 23 appearances.
The New Zealander, who recently was given the title Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, also has two wins on the IMS road course, with the most recent coming in 2023.
“It is a huge honor to be inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame,” Dixon said.
“It’s such a historic venue in motorsports and means so much to me, having raced here for so many years now.
“Honestly, it feels a little surreal as I’m still focused on winning here in May. It’s the competition that drives me, even in year 25 with Chip Ganassi Racing.
“The Indianapolis 500 is the biggest sporting event in the world, and another win here would be incredible, so that’s the goal for 2026.”
A Legacy of Greatness
The IMS Hall of Fame was founded in 1952 as the Auto Racing Hall of Fame located in Detroit, Michigan.
It changed locations in subsequent years and became knows as the IMS Hall of Fame starting in 2018.
Over 150 people have been inducted into the prestigious list, including drivers, team owners, engineers, and even journalists.
Dixon is the longest tenured current driver on the IndyCar grid, having started his career in the final years of CART in 2001.
He joined Chip Ganassi racing a year later and has remained with CGR throughout his career, maintaining an incredibly consistent relationship for over two decades.
He has earned a total of 59 IndyCar victories, earning at least one in each of the past 21 years.
Official induction will take place on May 21, a few days before the 110th Indianapolis 500.
