The Formula E Miami E-Prix takes place this weekend, but before the championship action takes place, we are treated to another rookie test. Motorsport Week runs down the participants.
The all-electric championship has made a rookie test a staple of its season’s schedule, having hosted two in Season 11, held in Jeddah and Berlin respectively.
This year, the series’ first visit to the Miami International Autodrome – home of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix – will incorporate a new batch of young’uns given a shot in the Gen3 Evo machines.
Amongst those is Ayhancan Guven, the reigning DTM champion, who will drive for Porsche. Highly-regarded by the German marque, Guven is reportedly high on its list to take a seat in its second team next season, and last weekend, helped take a Porsche 911 GT3 R to fifth place in the GTD Pro class at the Daytona 24 Hours.
Mahindra have placed a safe bet with its choice – American Chloe Chambers. Third in F1 Academy last year, Chambers made a stunning cameo appearance for the Indian team at the all-women’s test in Valencia, topping the timesheets in both sessions.
Nissan has stuck close to home by hiring two drivers – the only team to do so – from its regular pool, Abbi Pulling and Gabriele Mini. Pulling is gearing up for a second year in GB3, with Mini set to tackle a second season of Formula 2 with MP Motorsport.
Andretti made a logical choice with former F2 driver Dennis Hauger, the Norwegian being loaned over from its Indy NXT outfit.
Citroen have opted for continuity in the form of Theo Pourchaire. Having tested for predecessor team Maserati, Pourchaire’s relationship with Stellantis continues, and can also lean on advice from its regular race driver Nick Cassidy, who is also the Frenchman’s team-mate in the forthcoming World Endurance Championship Peugeot squad.

Cupra Kiro have opted for what is, on the face of it, a bemusing choice – Pepe Marti. The Spaniard is, of course, one of its regular race drivers this year, alongside Dan Ticktum, but qualifies as a rookie, having partaken in two E-Prix so far.
