Will Power is approaching the beginning of his new IndyCar chapter, with his race debut with Andretti Global now only five weeks away.
There is a lot of attention being paid to the fresh partnership, with media and fellow drivers alike all asking the veteran driver for an update every chance they get.
Power is contesting the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona this year, which has given a host of drivers the chance to question the veteran about his opinion of Andretti in the lead-up to the season.
During a recent media session for the season-opening sportscar event, the two-time champion recounted his responses to other drivers asking about his major IndyCar shift.
“Everyone wants to know ‘What’s it like, man? How’s Andretti? What is the car like? What is the engine like?’ I get that a lot all around the place,” said Power.
“I tell them it’s a good team, and these guys are going to be tough. They got all the ingredients to win a championship, no question. They’re very proactive as well. They really want to win.
“Between my experience and their experience; they’re very good on street courses. I think I have a very good feel for ovals and short ovals. Based on that test, we’re going a really good direction.
“Really looking forward to it, I really am. I really believe this team can be the top team the next few years.”
Power spent 17 years racing for Team Penske and will have more than a few major challenges ahead of him for the 2026 season, not the least of which is coming to grips with a Honda power plant.
If he adapts quickly, he will look to add to his total of 45 career wins increase his already record-setting 71 career pole awards.
