Lucas Di Grassi has put the new GEN4 car through its paces, demonstrating the radical performance increase Formula E will see in Season 13.
Formula E enters the final year of its current Gen3.5 regulations, with a radical overhaul planned for Season 13 that will transform the series.
The debut of the new Gen4 car will transform how drivers manage their weekends and attack rivals in the peloton-style races that characterise the series.
Producing 600kw of power, it is rumoured to go from 0-60 faster than an Formula 1 car, and could be the fastest accelerating car in the world.
Making its on track debut in November, the new car performed reliably, driving drivers and fans excited for its introduction in December.
Gen4 features a number of upgrades, notably a full four wheel drive system, compared to Gen3, which can only be activated in the Duels during qualifying or Attack Mode during races.
Taking place at the Circuit Andalusia, the second group manufacturer test allowed teams and drivers to gain further understanding of the radical new car.
Only Mahindra missed the test, as the other manufacturers looked to use testing as a springboard for their own development, and for the FIA to evaluate performance.
Running Yamaha’s sole entry in the sport for Lola, Lucas Di Grassi, has shared footage of his participation in the test on social media.
Racking up over 70 laps, the Brazilian could not hide his excitement at the prospect of racing Formula E’s new challenger, confirming he was impressed with the speed difference.
