MotoGP promoter Dorna Sports has described the conclusion of the 2025 season as a “record-breaking” year for the sport.
The Spanish promoter has posted official figures from the previous year, a season that was “marked by unprecedented growth, increased fan engagement and milestone achievements both on and off the track.”
With the longest calendar in MotoGP history, featuring 44 races at 22 circuits across 18 countries on five continents, MotoGP confirmed it drew a total of 3.6 million spectators, the highest figures in the sport’s history.
Nine race weekends recorded record-high attendance, most notably sharp increases at Jerez, Mandalika, Buriram, and Le Mans, with the latter hosting the largest-ever MotoGP race weekend crowd of 311,797 as hometown hero Johann Zarco claimed victory.
However, the British and Austrian Grands Prix saw fewer fans, with sharp decreases likely due to a combination of factors affecting both races.
Dorna also revealed strong growth in TV viewership, with global audiences up an average of 9% per race, including a 26% increase for Sprint races. Its digital media reach grew to 61%, with the organisation confirming that fans consumed over 1 billion minutes of content on MotoGP’s YouTube channel, revealing that Dorna’s target audience is predominantly under 35.
“2025 was a landmark season for MotoGP – a clear reflection of the work we have done to open our sport to new audiences and build deeper affinity with our fans,” shared MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta in a press release.
“From record-breaking attendance to digital engagement and incredible racing on the track, this year shows the strength and vibrancy of our sport today – demonstrating the power of MotoGP to captivate fans and our partners around the world.”
The 2026 MotoGP season commences in Buriram on 27 February, but testing begins in Sepang on 3 February.
