One week after securing his seventh MotoGP title, Marc Marquez will fly to Madrid to assess the extent of his right collarbone injury.
Marquez’s Indonesian Grand Prix ended on the first lap after he was taken out at Turn 7 by Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi.
An overly opportunistic move saw the Aprilia clip the rear of the Ducati, sending both riders into the gravel and leaving Marquez visibly in pain.
“He’s fine, he’s calm, with slight pain. It was a direct trauma to the shoulder of the affected arm, and initially, it looks like there’s a small fracture, Dr Angel Charte reported to DAZN Spain.
“But there’s also some confusion regarding the fact that that arm has already been operated on, so there are a number of issues that can also somewhat obscure the diagnosis.
“Everything will be done in Madrid. The only way to make a complete diagnosis is with a scan and see exactly what’s there. He’s fine, he’s conscious, and with the CT scan, we’ll know if it’s surgical or non-surgical.”

No timeframe has been given for the Spaniard’s return, but Marquez has suggested he won’t rush his comeback.
The 32-year-old acknowledged that the crash was a racing incident, with Bezzecchi apologising for the error.
“It’s true that I’m sad because I have some injury in my right collarbone. But from a race incident,” Marquez shared via Crash.net.
“In the end, Marco Bezzecchi already came to me and said sorry.
“This happens. It’s something that sometimes I will do, sometimes somebody else will do, but it was not on purpose.
“So, Marco accepts it was his fault.
“Let’s see if we can fly as soon as possible to Madrid and try to understand with the doctors exactly what I have and try to come back as soon as possible, but inside the limits of the recovery.”
Aprilia has revealed that Bezzecchi will be taken to Mataram hospital to undergo “a more comprehensive examination following his crash.”
