Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi blitzed the competition to claim pole position in Indonesian MotoGP qualifying.

The Italian finished the session as the only rider to lap in the 1:28s, recording a 1:28.832 and setting a new all-time lap record.

Rookie Fermin Aldeguer claimed second for Gresini Ducati, finishing the session as the fastest Ducati rider.

Aprilia’s pace was highlighted by an impressive third-place finish for Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez.

Yamaha’s Alex Rins and KTM’s Pedro Acosta sealed fourth and fifth, respectively, with only 0.007 seconds separating their best lap times.

Luca Marini finished as the leading Honda in sixth, ensuring that all five manufacturers placed within the top six positions.

Alex Marquez crashed out on his final run but qualified seventh for Gresini, closely followed by Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo.

Newly crowned champion Marc Marquez has struggled this weekend and could only qualify ninth after coming through Q1.

Miguel Oliveira and Pramac took 10th spot, closely followed by VR46 Ducati’s Fabio Di Giannantonio and Honda’s Joan Mir.

In a first phase of qualifying that saw four Ducati bikes, including the factory duo, VR46 rider Franco Morbidelli narrowly missed out.

Pramac Yamaha rider Jack Miller will start 14th, making him the only representative of the team in the second half of the grid.

Brad Binder and Francesco Bagnaia set identical lap times, but Bagnaia will start 16th since Binder recorded his lap first.

Enea Bastianini qualified down in 17th for Tech3 KTM, lapping quicker than the LCR Honda duo of Johann Zarco and Somkiat Chantra.

Maverick Vinales will start both races from last place, as the KTM rider continues to struggle with injuries sustained earlier in the season.
