Robert Shwartzman has denied that he is unhappy in IndyCar after wrapping up his rookie season in the American series.

The 25-year-old joined IndyCar this past season, competing with newcomer team PREMA for a full season.

It was the Israeli / Russian national’s first full season in open wheel competition since running the 2021 Formula 2 season with PREMA.

Shwartzman struggled at times, which was expected considering his and his team’s learning curve, but he was upbeat in most interviews throughout the year.

Nevertheless, some reports circulated saying he was not happy with how the year was progressing and were seemingly persistent enough to earn a response.

“I want to take a moment to address something that’s been circulating recently,” said Shwartzman in a social media post.

“I keep seeing comments and have received messages suggesting that I’m unhappy in IndyCar, or that I don’t enjoy racing here. Let me be absolutely clear: I have never said that, and I’ve never even thought it.

“These rumours come from speculation, and not only is it inaccurate, it’s damaging and frankly offensive.

“The truth is the complete opposite! I am very happy to be racing in IndyCar. I love the series, the competition, the atmosphere, the variety of the circuits; the fans are passionate and the paddock is very welcoming.

“So, please don’t believe everything you read when it isn’t coming directly from me. If I have something to say about my career or how I feel, you’ll always hear it from me first.

“Thank you to everyone who continues to support me!”

Shwartzman earned two top 10 finishes throughout the season, as well as a shock pole at the Indianapolis 500 in May.

He narrowly missed out on earning the Rookie of the Year title, and ended up 24th in the overall points standings.
