The NTT IndyCar Series has handed out grid penalties for two drivers ahead of the 2025 season finale at Nashville Superspeedway.
Callum Ilott and Christian Rasmussen will both start nine places lower than they qualify on the 1.33-mile oval.
The grid penalties are for excessive engine use, with both entries taking a new Chevy power plant this weekend.
They had both used their allocation already this season, meaning the additional engine puts them over the limit set out by the rulebook.
Ilott’s change comes after his engine expired during last weekend’s event at the Milwaukee Mile, with the #90 PREMA coasting to a stop after expelling smoke from the tailpipes.
Rasmussen was last week’s winner and completed an impressive set of donuts on the front stretch on his way to victory lane.
The celebration is not the cause for the new engine, however, as his power plant was due to be replaced anyway because of pre-determined mileage limits.
The fresh engines will likely give Ilott and Rasmussen a small advantage on track, as engineers will be able to tune the engines without worry of them needing to last for multiple events.
Regardless, both drivers will have a taller task ahead of them on Sunday when the start from further down the order.
