Toprak Razgatlioglu dominated to grab WorldSBK Superpole race victory at his favourite track at Donington Park.

The Turkish rider helped BMW secure its 100th podium in WorldSBK history, where he crossed the line 2.8s clear of championship rival Nicolo Bulega.

As predicted, Razgatlioglu maintained the holeshot into Turn 1 and in a repeat of Saturday’s Race 1 Jonathan Rea boosted himself to second.

The Turkish rider forged a 1.2s advantage after the first two laps while championship leader Bulega was all over the back of Rea.

The Ducati rider lunged at the Foggy Esses and at the Melbourne Loop but his Northern Irish rival wasn’t giving up without a fight.

Marc VDS rider Sam Lowes scooped through at Turn 4 to demote Rea and his Pata Maxus Yamaha down to fourth place.

Behind the Ulsterman was an intense duel between team-mate Andrea Locatelli and Alvaro Bautista, with the latter securing an impressive lunge in the final sector.

The two-time champion showed rapid pace as he completed a clean move on Rea at Yamaha’s weakest point of the circuit.

At half race distance Razgatlioglu and Bulega steered clear of the rest of the pack and once again showed their dominance over the rest of the field.

Further behind, Danilo Petrucci, Ryan Vickers, Andrea Iannone and Garrett Gerloff were locked in a four-way battle for seventh. The Barni Sparking Racing rider led the quartet but Vickers ran in too hot at the final corner, putting him out of the points scoring positions.

Locatelli overtook Rea on the last lap to move up to fifth, defeating the six-time champion right at the end.

Razgatlioglu continued the momentum to secure a fifth consecutive race win, and in turn made it win number 11 at Donington Park.

Bulega sealed second once again and finished as the lead Ducati rider once again.

Lowes recovered from his crash at Turn 1 on Saturday to secure a second podium of the year for the Marc VDS outfit.

Bautista posted an important fourth place for factory Ducati, finishing two seconds clear of the factory Yamaha duo of Locatelli and Rea.

Petrucci won the four-way battle to secure seventh, while Gerloff and Iannone claimed the final points.

Swiss rider Dominque Aegerter rouned off the top 10 positions as Vickers wasn’t able to regain ground after his minor mistake.

Remy Gardner posted 12th for Yamaha as he pipped Xavi Vierge finished as the lead Honda rider in 13th.

Axel Bassani and Yari Montella finished 14th and 15th for Bimota and Ducati, respectively.
