Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo set the fastest time to secure an impressive pole position in MotoGP qualifying at Assen.

The Frenchman posted an impressive lap time of 1.30.653s to earn his fourth pole position of the season.

The 2021 champion will be accompanied by old championship rival Francesco Bagnaia and Gresini’s Alex Marquez on the front row.

Marc Marquez will start both races from fourth on the grid, marking the second time this season he begins from the second row.

Marco Bezzecchi maintained Aprilia’s strong pace to qualify fifth, with Franco Morbidelli claiming sixth for VR46 Ducati.

Fermin Aldeguer separated both VR46 Ducati riders to secure seventh place, followed closely by Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Pedro Acosta and Maverick Vinales qualified in ninth and 10th for KTM, as both Spaniards showed impressive pace this weekend.

Raul Fernandez posted a lap that places him 11th for Trackhouse Racing after making it through from the first phase of qualifying.

LCR Honda rider Johann Zarco finished as the lead Honda rider to start 12th for both races.

A frustrated Joan Mir missed out on the second phase after lapping only 0.004s slower than Q1 graduate Aldeguer, but finished as second lead Honda rider.

Jack Miller secured 14th place for Pramac Yamaha, finishing behind Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori.

Brad Binder and Enea Bastianini secured 16th and 17th for KTM, but Binder might have qualified higher if he hadn’t been partially impeded by his stablemate.

Miguel Oliveira will start 19th on the second Pramac bike, ahead of Alex Rins who could only set one competitive run after being impeded on his two previous laps.

Ai Ogura crashed early on, which resulted in the Trackhouse rookie posting a lap time that places him 20th on the grid.

Aleix Espargaro and Somkiat Chantra rounded off the final two places on the grid for Honda.
