Jack Aitken went fastest in the second and final practice session for the IMSA Six Hours of Watkins Glen, with the #31 Action Express Racing Cadillac driver setting a 1:33.865.
The session was interrupted by two red flags, disrupting team’s plans and long run preparation for the race.
It was a Cadillac 1-2 at the top of the timesheets, with Ricky Taylor second in the the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadilac V-Series.R. R. Taylor was 0.131 off Aitken, setting his time much earlier in the session on his 12th lap, with Aitken stealing it later on his 39th.
Third was Colin Braun in the #60 Acura Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-06, 0.276 off Aitken.
In LMP2, Manuel Espirito Santo was quickest in the #73 Pratt Miller Motorsports Oreca 07-Gibson. The IMSA Sportscar Championship debutant lapped the Glen in 1:35.967, just 0.047 ahead of Mikkel Jensen in the #11 TDS Racing Oreca.
Third in class was Sebastian Alvarez in the #8 Tower Motorsports Oreca 07-Gibson.
Top in GTD was Alex Udell in the #36 DXDT Corvette Z08 GT3.R, setting a 1:45.258. He was almost three tenths faster than Parker Thompson in the #12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3, with Zach Robichon third in the #27 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3.
In GTD Pro – behind GTD – was Sandy Mitchell in the #9 Pfaff Motorsports Oreca 07-Gibson, with a 1:45.741. Albert Costa was second fastest in class in the #81 Dragonspeed Ferrari 296 GT3, with Nicky Catsburg third in the #4 Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
The first red flag was caused by contact between Malthe Jakobsen in the #4 Crowdstrike by APR Oreca and Adam Adelson in the #120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3.R, with the prototype taking significant front left damage. The second was for Dane Cameron’s stranded #99 AO Racing Oreca, which had stopped on track with smoke pouring from the car.
