Maverick Vinales impressed as he recorded the fastest time in the second Mugello MotoGP practice on his final run.

The Spaniard defeated the competition as he posted an impressive 1.44.634s for Tech3 KTM, lapping quicker than the factory duo of Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez.

Alex Marquez lapped a whisker away from his older brother, but improved on first practice to occupy the higher echelons in the final classification.

Fabio Quartararo crashed inside the first quarter of the session at the fast Turn 4, but avoided injury as he popped his shoulder back into place to finish in an incredible fifth place.

Marco Bezzecchi continued the momentum from leading in first practice to claim sixth spot, finishing inbetween the factory Yamaha duo of Quartararo and Alex Rins.

Pedro Acosta led the session at one phase, but finished the session in eighth, ahead of the VR46 Ducati duo Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Miguel Oliveira was the first to miss out on an automatic Q2 place, but lapped 0.01s quicker than Enea Bastianini.

Jack Miller and Raul Fernandez followed as both lapped faster than GP24 Ducati rider Fermin Aldguer.

Joan Mir and Johann Zarco ended Friday down in 16th and 17th place, respectively, for Honda whereas Brad Binder posted a surprise 18th finish in the final table.

Ai Ogura and Taakaki Nakagami followed, before Lorenzo Savadori and Somkait Chantra rounded off proceedings once more.
