Dale Coyne Racing has announced that it has re-hired expert engineer Michael Cannon for its #18 entry for the remainder of the season.

Cannon served as engineer at DCR from 2014-2019, working with multiple drivers throughout that time.

He most recently worked to help the PREMA team establish itself in IndyCar throughout the past offseason.

He left the team before their first race weekend, however, stating that he felt his efforts were being largely ignored by the Italian team as they worked to set up their new program.

Cannon now returns to a team he knows well and will assist Rinus VeeKay for at least the remainder of the 2025 schedule.

“I’ve always had a great deal of respect for Dale [Coyne] and the way he assembles his team,” Cannon said. “It’s great to be back, and I’m looking forward to what we can accomplish together in the races ahead.”

DCR also announced that Mike Colliver would serve as the new engineer of the #51 entry, assisting rookie Jacob Abel’s efforts.

Colliver was a consulting engineer with the team in 2024 and recently assisted in Ryan Hunter-Reay’s efforts at Dreyer and Reinbold Racing for the Indianapolis 500.

“I would first like to thank Ed Nathman and John Dick for helping us get to this point in our 2025 season,” team owner Dale Coyne said.

“Our driver lineup came together very late in the offseason, and we appreciate both Ed and John stepping in to get us on track so quickly. I’m also very excited to welcome back Michael Cannon and Mike Colliver to the Dale Coyne Racing team for the remainder of the year.”
