Eduardo Barrichello noted the fierce driving standards in the LMGT3 category after Racing Spirit of Léman finished P6 at the 6 Hours of Spa.
“It was eventful to say the least,” he told Motorsport Week after the race.
“I think we had a lot of clashes and a lot of mistakes from everybody.
“[There was some] hard racing, I think maybe too much.
“If I could, I would have asked for a cleaner race, but sometimes you just have to go elbows out.
“We had very good potential, and unfortunately, we couldn’t maximise it.
“I think the team has done an amazing job just getting everybody up to speed.
“We got our first Hyperpole [appearance] as well this weekend, so we have a lot of positives to take into the moment.
“I think we have a great car, and it’s very enjoyable to drive as well.
“So hopefully we just keep developing the car, and the team is just getting better.
“We’re just getting to know each other, better and better.
“So, we just have to keep the good momentum, and I’m sure sometime we’ll maximise the results.”
Racing Spirit of Léman have competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s other feeder series, the Michelin Le Mans Cup and the European Le Mans Series, so this year marked their first ever campaign in one of the FIA’s seven world championships.
Their #10 Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3 Evo qualified on the front row, in second position, thanks to Barrichello’s 2:18.008 lap time.
Derek Deboer endured a challenging race start after he fell to sixth place.
He served a drive-through penalty after an unsafe pit stop release after the opening hour and finished behind Heart of Racing.
