IndyCar completed a knockout qualifying session on Saturday afternoon, and a break between rain showers allowed the entire session to take place on dry weather tires.

Alex Palou was the best driver of the day, setting a lap of 1:07.2918 around the 2.38-mile course.

The two time and reigning winner at Barber Scott McLaughlin was nearly as fast, but missed out on the top spot by just over one tenth of a second.

There were a few spins as drivers pushed the limits, with Christian Rasmussen and Scott Dixon having their day ruined by small mistakes.

Both drivers will start down near the rear of the field, and Dixon in particular will have to climb all the way from 26th if he is to salvage a good weekend.

The race takes place Sunday at 12:30 PM central time, with no threat of rain and sunshine in the forecast.
