Reigning WorldSBK champion Toprak Razgatlioglu laughed off rumours surrounding a potential move to Honda for the 2026 MotoGP season.
Razgatlioglu has long been linked with a potential switch to MotoGP, and recent rumours suggested a move to Honda was on the cards.
However, the Turkish rider has made it clear that the Japanese marque has not approached him for his signature.
“I don’t know who spread that. It’s not true, but it’s funny,” Razgatlioglu stated.
“I laughed a lot, even my brother called me. I told him it wasn’t true, too.
“”I’m free for next year, but I don’t know what’s going on yet. I don’t know whether I’ll continue with BMW or not.”
Despite quickly refuting these claims, a new rumour emerged stating that the two-time champion would join the Honda WorldSBK entity in 2026 before a move to the MotoGP factory outfit in 2027.
Following the most recent round at Portimao, Razgatlioglu’s manager Kenan Sofuoglu provided an update on the chances of their dream coming true.
“Nothing is clear about his future,” Sofuoglu told Speedweek.com.
“It looks like there are two options for Toprak in MotoGP. At the moment, however, we’re more focused on winning the second title with BMW.
“We didn’t start the season well and need to concentrate on the Superbike title and more victories. Like in Portimao – Toprak [Razgatlioglu] is back!
“But of course, my job will soon begin to determine where Toprak’s future lies. Currently, I estimate the chances at 50:50 for MotoGP and Superbike.”
Razgatlioglu’s treble at Portimao saw him become the third all-time leader in WorldSBK wins, surpassing Carl Fogarty’s 59 race wins.
