Cadillac’s Alex Lynn sets WEC FP2 pace at Qatar

Cadillac’s Alƒex Lynn was fastest in the second free practice session for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s 2025 season opener, the Qatar 1812km, with the British driver, onboard the #12 Cadillac V-Series.R, setting a 1:42.228.

He was three tenths quicker than Ferrari’s Antonio Fuoco, behind the wheel of the #50 Ferrari 499P. In third was the #20 BMW of Rene Rast , who was almost half a second off Lynn out in front.

Fourth was the sister Cadillac of Sebastien Bourdais, driving the #38 car, with the other Ferrari, #51, of Alessandro Pier Guidi fifth. Sixth went to Brendon Hartley in the #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid, while Mick Schumacher placed seventh in the #36 Alpine A424.

Eighth went to Robert Kubica in the #83 AF Corse Ferrari, with Charles Milesi ninth in the sister #35 Alpine. And, in 10th, was the #15 BMW of Raffaele Marciello.

The session ran cleanly, with just minor local yellows for the most part for brief periods of time, along with one full course yellow for Maxime Martin’s stranded #61 Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG GT3. However, the Belgian soon got the car going and back up to speed.

In LMGT3, Sean Gelael set the pace, with the Indonesian lapping Lusail International Circuit in 1:54.557, in the #95 United Autosports McLaren 720S GT3 Evo. The Lexuses continued their impressive form in second and third, Ben Barnicoat in the #78 ASP Lexus RC F GT3 ahead of Jose Maria Lopez onboard the sister #87 car.

In Noah’s Ark formation, the two AF Corse Ferrari GT3s were next in fourth and fifth, Simon Mann in the #21 machine ahead of Davide Rigon.

FP3 starts tomorrow 12:00 local time, 9am UTC, with qualifying getting underway 16:50 local time, 13:50 UTC.
