Formula E has announced a huge spike in TV ratings, with the previous round reaching an audience in America that was higher than all but one Formula 1 race over the last two years.
FE said that the Mexico City E-Prix reached a figure that was 80 percent higher than the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix in 2023, as well as cumulative figure of 10.5 million purely on CBS alone.
FE has also said that the race, won by Nissan’s Oliver Rowland, drew a 65, 64 and 10 percent increases in Germany, France and Mexico itself respectively.
Viewership in the UK has also gone up, with the opening round in São Paulo watched by an audience 120 percent higher, part in thanks to its new free-to-air deal with commercial channel ITV.
Aarti Dabas, Formula E’s Chief Media Officer, said:

“With 14 more races to come, we are firmly on track to deliver our biggest season ever and take our racing spectacle to more fans than ever before.”
Formula E will be hoping for a further improvement in ratings across the remainder of the season, with next month’s hiatus – caused by the cancellation of the planned Thailand E-Prix – now being filled by an event in Miami which will pit 11 celebrities and influencers against each-other in a car of each of the 11 teams across the grid.
Brooklyn Beckham and former Premier League footballer Sergio Aguero are two of the six already announced, with the further five to be confirmed soon.
