Ducati boss Davide Tardozzi believes it will be “very easy” to manage Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia throughout the 2025 MotoGP season.
Ducati decided to sign Marquez in the first half of the 2024 MotoGP season after the eight-time champion refuted the possibility of joining Pramac with factory spec machinery.
His presence within the team makes the factory Ducati outfit one of the strongest lineups in MotoGP history, with both riders winning a combined eight premier class titles.
The addition of Marquez comes after Bagnaia delivered the best MotoGP season of his career, having secured 11 Grand Prix victories in 2024.
One could argue that Marquez’s arrival with the Bologna marque could cause an imbalance and lead to potential disagreements. After all, Bagnaia has been Ducati’s leading figure since his promotion to the team in 2021.
Despite this, Tardozzi has no concerns about a potential clash between the team-mates, stating that the team will manage both riders in the same way he has done with past line-ups.
“I will not change my approach because in the end, it’s much easier to work with champions than with young kids. I knew Marc very well in those [early] days,” he said at the team launch in Italy.
“I think that it will be very easy [to manage them]. What supports my opinion is the respect they see between them. They speak a lot, they are working together, they are working together to try to improve the bike.
“In the end, it will be the race track [where it will be decided] who is at the front and who is at the back. But this is something who is behind will take as stimulation to be better for the following race.
“I think it will be very easy to work with them.”
Equal status for both factory Ducati riders
Both riders will be expected to be the two leading championship contenders after reigning champion Jorge Martin departed for Aprilia.
Fabio Di Giannantonio is the third rider to race the latest up-to-spec challenger for the new season.
Ducati insists that neither Bagnaia nor Marquez will have preferential treatment for the 2025 season.
“I think supporting the riders is not a problem for us,” Tardozzi said.
“As usual we did in the past we will support both riders, their needs and we have the power to do it.
“We will support those two champions, not only two riders [but two champions], and we are proud to have them.”
