Darren Leung has joined United Autosports for the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship season in the LMGT3 category.

The 2023 British GT champion has made the switch from Team WRT to United Autosports for the upcoming campaign.

He scored one victory at the 6 Hours of Imola and a Le Mans 24 Hours podium finish in the #31 BMW M4 LMGT3 last year.

As an FIA Bronze-graded driver, he will co-drive the #95 McLaren 720S LMGT3 EVO with a returning Marino Sato and another name soon to be confirmed.

“I am delighted to join United Autosports and McLaren for the 2025 World Endurance Championship season,” said Leung.

“Their commitment to their WEC program is truly inspiring, and I’m eager to contribute to the team’s efforts as we take on some of the most iconic circuits in the world.

“As a proud Yorkshireman, racing for a Yorkshire-based team makes this opportunity even more special.

“I can’t wait for the chance to see our national flag raised above the top step of the podium.”

“Darren has very quickly established himself as a driver you want on your side,” added Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO.

“His rise in motorsport has been pretty amazing to watch over the past four seasons, so we are extremely proud that he is now part of the United Autosports and McLaren Automotive team.

“Darren believes in this LMGT3 programme with the same passion that we do, and I believe that we have a very exciting future together.

“Plus, he’s a fellow Yorkshireman which is always a good thing.”

Leung’s recent championship title streak

The 37-year-old FIA Bronze-graded driver completed his fourth season of competitive motor racing last year.

Last year, he secured the Bronze class drivers’ title in the GT World Challenge Europe (Sprint Cup) series.

Meanwhile during his debut WEC season, he took victory at Imola with teammates Sean Gelael and Augusto Farfus.

After a rain-soaked Le Mans debut, Leung stood on the LMGT3 podium in second position with his #31 BMW co-drivers.

With three championship titles in the last two years, Leung will commence his WEC efforts with his new team at the Qatar 1812km season opener on 28 February.
