F1 Academy announced a third race in Abu Dhabi to replace the cancelled second race in Qatar, stripping Abbi Pulling of her title.

Pulling wrapped up the title fight a round early in Qatar, taking an 83-point lead ahead of Doriane Pin with only 82 points up for grabs.

The Rodin Motorsport driver claimed her maiden F1 Academy title in dramatic fashion, finishing behind the Iron Dame while the second race was cancelled due to significant barrier damage.

Due to Race 2’s cancellation, F1 Academy announced an additional race in Abu Dhabi, re-implementing a 14-race season.

This decision, however, strips Pulling of her title by creating two more points for the drivers to earn in Abu Dhabi.

Pin would theoretically have to earn every pole position and win each of the three races with the fastest lap to snatch the title from Pulling.

Although Pulling only needs to score one point this weekend to reclaim her championship in the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

This weekend there will be a 30-minute qualifying session on Friday to decide the drivers’ starting spots, with their quickest laps deciding their spots for Race 1.

Their second and third-fastest qualifying times will determine their Race 2 and Race 3 starting slots respectively.
