ART Grand Prix driver Nikola Tsolov cruised to victory in Budapest, snatching an early lead from teammate Laurens Van Hoepen in the Formula 3 Feature Race.

Tsolov snatched the lead from Van Hoepen on the opening lap, going on to earn his maiden Feature Race win in F3.

ART enjoyed an early celebration under a final-lap safety car, having all three drivers in the top five as Christian Mansell earned a P5 finish.

After an extra formation lap kicked off the 23-lap feature race in Budapest with Tsolov launching off the line to lead the pack heading into Turn 2.

Joseph Loake reported a puncture after locking up on the exit of Turn 4, while Tim Tramnitz gained places after starting from the pitlane.

Losing pole position from the jump, Van Hoepen tailed behind Tsolov hoping to regain the lead and fly ahead.

DRS was enabled on Lap 2 and Red Bull Junior driver Oliver Goethe dived down the inside of Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak for P10 on the exit of Turn 1.

ART Grand Prix driver Mansell climbed three positions from his starting position to find himself in P5 by Lap 5 after making a bold lunge around the outside of Santiago Ramos.

Drops of rain were spotted across the track through the opening stages of the race and drivers were advised to nurse their tyres.

Clocking in consecutive fastest laps, Mansell was slowly closing the 3s gap to Fornaroli ahead in the battle for P4.

Meanwhile, the Championship leader Gabriele Mini fell under pressure from his rival Luke Browning on the hunt for P12.

At the front of the pack, Van Hoepen closed within 0.2s of the race leader but failed to make the critical move by Lap 10.

Nikola Tsolov (BGR) ART Grand Prix. 20.07.2024. FIA Formula 3 Championship, Rd 8, Sprint Race, Budapest, Hungary, Saturday.

ART had all three drivers in the top five of the Feature race by Lap 13 as Mansell was charging through the field, coming within a second of Fornaroli.

The hope for an all-ART podium was looking achievable as Mansell closed in on P4, while the Championship leader found himself fighting for P11.

Alpine Junior Driver Mini dived around the outside of Inthraphuvasak at Turn 1 on Lap 14 to make his way close to the point-scoring positions.

Chaos ensued ahead as a big lockup for Goethe put him under pressure from Dino Beganovic and Mini on the hunt for more crucial points in the title fight.

Alex Dunne threw his MP Motorsport car into the apex of Turn 1 on Lap 15, causing him to run too deep and lock up.

Campos Racing driver Mari Boya climbed his way up to P12, but Browning was tailing closely behind charging through the field.

Boya shut Browning down and launched his car down the inside of Mini on the exit of Turn 1 on Lap 18, snatching the provisional points from the Championship leader.

Meanwhile, Van Hoepen remained in the DRS range of his teammate leading the race but had yet to pull off an overtake heading into the final five laps.

A safety car was called at the end of Lap 21 as Arvid Lindblad and Matias Zagazeta made contact in the second sector.

The race ended with an ART 1-2 as Tsolov led the pack out of the brief safety car finish, ahead of teammate Van Hopen.

An uneventful race for Noel Leon earned him the last spot on the podium ahead of Fornaroli while Mansell locked out the top five for ART, bringing home crucial points for the team.

Ramos finished in sixth ahead of Callum Voisin and Nikita Bedrin, who both beat out Goethe in P9.

Beganovic managed to round off the points-scoring positions, keeping his fight for the title alive.
