Laurens Van Hoepen took pole on a session influenced by a late red flag. Teammate Nikola Tsolov completed the ART 1-2 with Leo Fornaroli rounding up the top three.

The first outlap of the session was very tricky as all the drivers were trying to race each other to try to gain a decent gap to launch their fast laps.

Sophia Floersch suffered a big spin in the first fast lap, with Christian Mansell having the same issue in the same corner briefly after.

As the first lap started to count in the timings, AIX Racing was the big surprise locking in a provisional 1-2-3 with Dufek ahead of Inthraphuvasak and Bedrin.

Prema’s Dino Beganovic and Trident’s Santiago Ramos completed the first top five of the qualifying session around the Hungaroring.

With 17 minutes to go, the majority of the drivers went out again for their second run with new tyres.

Meanwhile, championship contender Luke Browning went up to seventh onboard his Hitech car.

Championship leader Arvid Lindblad was ninth at the end of the first couple of laps.

It was another crowded outlap, with all the field creating a mess while trying to open a good gap.

Browning led the pack and was the first to cross the chequered flag to start his lap, setting a purple sector one.

Nonetheless, the Britton wasn’t able to capitalize on his new tyres and could only went into sixth.

Leo Fornaroli found the time and took the top of the timings ahead of Noel Leon in second and Ramos in third.

With five minutes to go in the session timer, the field was out again for the third and definitive run of the qualifying.

Van Hoepen took provisional pole ahead of Nikola Tsolov in second.

But when some cars were still completing their laps, Browning spun into the barrier at the exit of Turn 11, the same stop as Floersch and Mansell earlier on.

This summoned a red flag which ended the session, with Van Hoepen and Tsolov at the top of the charts to complete an ART 1-2 in qualifying

Leo Fornaroli completed the top three of a session with an unexpected ending.

The likes of Sami Meguetounif and Beganovic had been going quicker but with the stoppage could not complete their laps.
