Saturday’s NTT IndyCar Series qualifying from Road America featured a tense battle of driver versus track as the tarmac started wet and dried throughout the session.

Linus Lundqvist was the one that handled the changing conditions best, and put his Chip Ganassi Racing Honda on pole for the first time in his young IndyCar career.

Colton Herta and Marcus Armstrong set the second and third fastest times respectively, both having looked speedy all throughout the weekend.

Josef Newgarden had a massive crash on his final push lap, with his mistake of touching the wet curbing at The Kink being followed by a devastating crash into the wall. He walked away, but his car was all but totaled.

Sunday’s forecast looks to be completely dry, meaning drivers will be fighting it out for 55 laps with as much grip as they like.
