The FIA World Endurance Championship has confirmed the Balance of Performance measures for the third round of the 2024 season, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, as Peugeot continues as the heaviest Hypercar.

For the race on 11 May, Peugeot will enter their second race with their latest 9X8 Le Mans Hypercar which features revised aerodynamics and wheel sizes.

Due to the clash with the FIA Formula E World Championship round in Berlin, both of their #93 and #94 Hypercars will run with just two drivers each.

After a difficult debut for the new car at Imola – involving a Lap 1 incident caused by another competitor – their hopes are now set on ensuring the 9X8 can grasp a more promising finishing result despite being the heaviest Hypercar.

From hybrid cars to E-sports: Motorsport trends you can’t ignore

Peugeot‘s weight has been increased by 4 kg to 1065 kg whilst their maximum power has been reduced by 2 Kilowatts (kW) to a figure of 508 kW (690 hp) of total output from their twin-turbo 2.6L V6 hybrid electric powertrain.

Additionally, their maximum energy per stint has been increased by 4 Megajoules (MJ) to 910 MJ.

Ferrari has taken on the most weight increase after their 499P LMH performed strongly at Imola, although strategy was the deciding factor in not being able to execute a 1-2-3 finish.

A 12 kg increase puts them at 1053 kg and a power output reduction of 4 kW sets them at 506 kW (687 hp), plus 1 MJ of maximum stint energy puts them at 905 MJ.

Porsche‘s 963 LMDh was increased by 4 kg to 1037 kg, and minus 1 kW puts them at 507 kW (689 hp). An increase of 3 MJ for their stint energy sets them at 904 MJ per stint.

After their victorious triumph at Imola, Toyota’s GR010 Hybrid also has a 4 kg increase to 1064 kg, minus 1 kW to 515 kW (700 hp), and 917 MJ of maximum stint energy after an increase of 1 MJ.

Toyota ‘couldn’t have done much more’ on way to Imola WEC win

Alpine and their A424 LMDh will run with 3 kg less than at Imola for 1045 kg, a power output of increase of 1 kW equalling 513 kW (697 hp) in total, and the most increase of their maximum stint energy over their rivals with 4 MJ making it 913 MJ.

BMW will also take on their third WEC race with their M Hybrid V8 LMDh, running at 3 kg more to 1038 kg, a power output of 510 kW (693 hp) after a decrease of 1 kW, and 907 MJ of maximum stint energy after a 2 MJ increase.

Cadillac will be the only Hypercar retaining the same weight at 1030 kg, making them the lightest in the class.

Furthermore, their #2 V-Series.R LMDh received a power increase of 1 kW to 516 kW (701 hp), making them the second-most powerful Hypercar. They have 909 MJ of maximum stint energy after a reduction of 1 MJ.

Isotta Fraschini’s Tipo 6-C LMH will reign as the most powerful at 520 kW (707 hp) which stayed the same, whilst they weight is at 1060 kg following an increase of 2 kg. They also have the highest maximum stint energy at 923 MJ after a 3 MJ increase.

The third team solely running a single-car, Lamborghini Iron Lynx, will have their SC63 LMDh weigh in at 1035 kg after a 1 kg increase, an output of 514 kW (698 hp) after a 2 kW reduction, and the same 908 MJ of maximum energy per stint.
