Conway heads another Toyota 1-2 in second WEC practice at Portimao

Kamui Kobyashi headed another Toyota 1-2 in second practi9ce the FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Portimao, setting a 1:32.155 in the #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid.

Teammate in the sister #8 Toyota, Ryo Hirakawa, was second, almost a second off Kobyashi’’s headline pace.

In third and fourth were once again the two Ferrari 499Ps, with Miguel Molina in the #50 Ferrari 499P ahead of James Calado in the #51. The two were just a coupe of tenths off Hirakawa, but over a second off Kobyashi.

The #94 Peugeot 9X8 was fifth, with Nico Muller over fourth tenths off Calado. The #5 Porsche 963 of Dane Cameron was sixth, with the #93 Peugeot of Paul di Resta next up in seventh.

The #2 Cadillac, #708 Glickenhaus, and #6 Porsche rounded out the top 10, with the #4 Vanwall 11th in class but 13th overall, behind the leading two LMP2s.

Those LMP2s were, incidentally, the #10 Vector Sport Oreca 07-Gibson of Gabriel Aubry, with the Frenchman setting a 1:34.609. Second was the #34 Inter Europol of Albert Costa, less than a tenth off Aubry, with Mirko Bortolotti in the #63 Prema Oreca 07-Gibson third in class.

Daniel Serra was quickest for the second session in a row in the #57 Kessel Racing Ferrari 488 GTE Evo. The Brazilian set a 1:41.196 to go quickest, 0.046 faster than Lilou Wadoux in the #83 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo. Completing the top three, in a Ferrari 1-2-3, was Davide Rigon, behind the wheel of the #54 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.

Qualifying begins tomorrow, Saturday 15th April, at 15:30 local time.
