Formula 1 has announced the identity of the five teams that will compete in the inaugural F1 Academy series in 2023.

They are ART Grand Prix, Campos Racing, Carlin, MP Motorsport and Prema Racing.

It was confirmed in November that an all-female category will be launched next year at single-seater entry level.

Each driver will be equipped with a Tatuus T421 chassis, featuring 165hp Autotecnica engines, while the series itself will be managed by Formula Motorsport CEO Bruno Michel.

Every team will field three drivers, creating a 15-strong grid, with Formula 1 subsidising each car with a budget of €150,000. The drivers will cover the same costs, with teams making up any shortfall.

All of the five teams have a wealth of experience in junior motorsport categories.

The first season will comprise of seven events with three races each – amounting to a total of 21 races – plus 15 days of official testing, with the 2023 calendar set to be released in due course.
