Logan Sargeant took his maiden Formula 2 pole position at the Silverstone Circuit on Friday, besting Frederick Vesti to the top spot.

Sargeant set a 1:38.432 to end the session as the fastest driver, with Vesti lingering just over one-tenth of a second behind.

It marked a strong day for Carlin and the Williams Driver Academy, as just hours before, Zak O’Sullivan stuck his car on pole position in Formula 3.

Forming the second row on the grid for Sunday’s Feature Race will be championship contenders Felipe Drugovich and Theo Pourchaire.

Both drivers set the exact same lap time in the session, however Drugovich took priority as he crossed the line first.

With his team-mate on pole position, Liam Lawson was fifth in the second Carlin car, and will have fellow Red Bull stable-mate Ayumu Iwasa for company on the third row on Sunday.

Two-time pole sitters in 2022 Jack Doohan and Juri Vips were seventh and eighth, while Enzo Fittipaldi and Jehan Daruvala rounded out the top 10.

Daruvala will start Saturday’s Sprint Race from pole position on account of the reverse grid regulations.

The Sprint Race will get underway at 17:00 local time on Saturday.
