The NTT IndyCar Series is visiting Barber Motorsports Park this weekend, and the forecast is calling for a threat of rain for the race on Sunday afternoon.

The 2.3-mile course is one of the more flowing courses on the calendar, with banked corners and multiple elevation changes throughout a lap.

Those features could produce a unique set of problems for the field of drivers if and when rain does start falling, but they could also help to keep the cars planted as they speed through the turns.

Felix Rosenqvist for one feels that it will be fun to tackle the course in wet conditions, and he is looking forward to the challenge later in the weekend.

“This is probably a good track in the wet because it’s kind of banked and flowing,” said Rosenqvist speaking to Motorsport Week.  “That normally makes for a better wet track.  A track like Indy GP becomes very not fun in the wet.

“You don’t bottom out so you can really attack [the track].  Will be interesting to see how the tires wear too.  It’s a pretty high wear track as it is.

“I think we had a wet race here in ’18, and I wasn’t [in IndyCar] then.  It was a long time ago with different surface and different tires.

“I don’t think we need to try to set the world on fire here, we just need to be fast.  I think we have a good car here, but what we don’t need to do is put it in the wall or screw up the strategy or something.  We just need to have a solid weekend.”

Rosenqvist has struggled to find his groove in recent races, and is often overshadowed by his standout team-mate Pato O’Ward.

A wet race on a flowing track could be just what the Swede needs to shake up the order and bit and secure himself a good result.
