A contingent of IndyCar teams were set to test on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course this week, but that has been canceled due to ongoing cold weather.

Initially most of the paddock planned to use one of their allotted in-season test days to gather data around the 2.4-mile infield course, but one by one each team decided running in the cooler weather would not be beneficial.

Andretti Autosport was the final team to announce that they would not be running on Friday morning, opting to use their test day elsewhere.

The test was initially scheduled for Thursday, but was shifted a day later in hopes that the temperatures would warm up a bit.  However, by noon it was still 37°F with snow flurries in the air, not nearly warm enough for the Firestone tires to effectively grip the track.

Earlier in the week Honda and Chevy were able to get some running in to put their new 2.4-liter engines to the test for the first time, but even that was limited due to pervasive cold temperatures.

Some teams have opted to take part in a test at Barber Motorsports Park next week instead, preparing for the fourth stop on the calendar which will take place in early May.

That test is scheduled for Monday, when the weather in Birmingham, Alabama is forecast to be a comfortable 77°F.

From there, teams will head west for the Grand Prix of Long Beach in California, with the combined IMSA and IndyCar event set to be run April 8-10.
