LCR Honda unveiled the liveries its riders Takaaki Nakagami and Alex Marquez will campaign throughout the 2022 MotoGP season in an online launch on Wednesday morning.
Hot on the heels of the factory Honda outfit presented its ’22 livery on Tuesday, the Japanese manufacturer’s chief satellite outfit LCR showed off largely similar paint schemes for its unchanged rider line-up.
Marquez will continue to enjoy running with Castrol as title sponsor for his side of the garage, though the 2019 Moto2 world champion’s RC213-V will also run with heavy backing from motorcycle clothing accessories brand Givi, his livery retaining Castrol’s green, red and white corporate colours while the machine also has a splash of blue to finish off.
Nakagami meanwhile to continue to run under the Team Idemitsu banner, the Japanese petroleum company having supported the two-time Moto2 race winner since he made the step up to MotoGP with LCR in 2018.
Hs livery also remains mainly unchanged from 2021, with the red and white colours of Idemitsu adorning his Honda, though for the new campaign though a large section of black coats the front of the fairing behind his traditional #30, while slightly bigger gold flashes also feature.
Marquez is looking to make a return to the rostrum following a tough 2021 campaign, his first with LCR after being dropped from the factory Honda team after an up-and-down rookie campaign in ’20.
He managed to score his best result of fourth in the penultimate contest of the year in Portugal- his only top five run of the season- on his way to a lowly 16th in the riders standings, one spot behind team-mate Nakagami.
The Japanese ace comes into 2022 detirmined to try and score his maiden premier class rostrum result having come close on several occasions across the last two terms, Honda’s all-new RC213-V looking good to give him the best chance to crack the podium yet.
He also scored a best of fourth last year – at Jerez – and also managed a further top five-result in the Styrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring to end up just six points clear of Marquez overall.
