31 cars entered for WeatherTech 240 at the Glen

#11: WIN Autosport, ORECA LMP2 07, LMP2: Steven Thomas, Tristan Nunez, Thomas Merrill

A total of 31 cars have been entered to compete in the upcoming WeatherTech 240 at the Glen, which will take place Friday at Watkins Glen International.

Six DPi cars, one less than the Six Hours of the Glen, will be joined on the grid by three LMP2 entries, six LMP3 cars, three GTLM entrants and 13 in GTD.

Some entrants still have question marks placed over them following the Six Hours of the Glen. Notably, the #38 Performance Tech Motorsports Ligier JS P320 is an uncertainty after the car suffered an engine failure during the six-hour enduro and it currently unclear if the car will be ready in time.

The same goes for the #79 WeatherTech Racing Porsche 911 RSR-19, which was damaged significantly as a result of a fire in the opening stages of the race. The #8 Tower Motorsports ORECA 07-Gibson too was damaged in a crash.

Tower Motorsport are joined in the LMP2 class by WIN Autosport and PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports with United Autosports and, notably, Era Motorsport absent.

GTLM too is back to three cars, as BMW is not contesting the sprint rounds of the championship.

Since points in GTD for this race only go towards the WeatherTech Sprint Cup, some teams including Pfaff Motorsports and Magnus Racing with Archangel have opted to skip the race.

In their place, however, is the returning Compass Racing squad with their Acura NSX GT3 Evo for Jeff Kingsley and Mario Farnbacher.

Also added is the debuting Gilbert Korthoff Motorsports squad, entering the #32 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for Guy Cosmo and Shane Lewis.

The full entry list can be viewed here.
