Theo Pourchaire has qualified on pole position for Saturday’s Feature Race in this weekend’s FIA Formula 2 round in Monaco.

Pourchaire set his time in Group A – runners are split into two groups of 11 cars for Monaco to ease problems with traffic – which is traditionally the slower group, but the Frenchman posted a dominant time of 1:20.985.

His rivals were unable to match that with Oscar Piastri coming closest, albeit four-tenths back in Group A. The Group A runners will occupy the odd numbers on the grid.

Robert Shwartzman qualified second, as he was the fastest in Group B, followed by Dan Ticktum, who will line up fourth ahead of Juri Vups, Ralph Boschung, Roy Nissany, Christian Lundgaard and Felipe Drugovich in ninth.
