Jack Miller is confirmed to have undergone a successful surgery for arm pump on Monday evening at the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona in a short statement released by Ducati.

The factory Ducati pilot explained after the Doha Grand Prix that he was looking to book in an operation to cure the arm pump in his right forearm “as soon as possible” to give him the best chance of recovering as well as possible before the next event.

The Italian squad released its statement on Monday evening revealing the Aussie would remain in the Spanish hospital for 24 hours before beginning rehabilitation in order to be fit for the Portuguese GP at the Algarve International Circuit next weekend.

Miller says the operation “went very well” and that he “can’t wait” to start his recovery following the procedure, though cautioned he may not be at “100%” with the Portuguese event coming up in just ten days time.

“It was a short operation, and it went very well,” said Miller in the short statement.

“I can’t wait to start the rehabilitation. There are still ten days left before the next Grand Prix at Portimão.

“If my recovery proceeds normally, I’ll be able to be back on track in Portugal, even if not completely at my 100% fitness.

“I want to thank Dr Mir and all his team of the Dexeus Hospital for their availability and all the care they have given me.”

The one-time premier class victor confirmed after last weekend’s Doha GP that he had been suffering with arm pump since the start of the current season, an ailment that likely explains the reason for his late-race fades in the first couple of contests.

He showed strong speed during the mid-points of both the Qatar and Doha encounters at the same Losail International Circuit, though eventually slipped to rather average ninth place finishes by the end of both-leaving him in the same position in the riders standings 26 points back from leader Johann Zarco.

Tech 3 KTM rider Iker Lecuona is another MotoGP star to have suffered arm pump across the opening two events of the season, the Andorra native having undergone surgery on his own right arm to alleviate the problem ahead of the Portuguese GP.

Lecuona had his procedure on Tuesday morning in Valencia and has been confirmed as being fit for the upcoming Portimao race.
