Neel Jani will be replacing Michael Christensen in Porsche’s FIA World Endurance Championship line-up, ending the world championship-winning pairing between the Dane and Kevin Estre.
Jani and Estre will drive the #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 in the 2021 WEC campaign. The line-up for the #91 car remains unchanged, as Gianmaria Bruni will once again partner Richard Lietz.
Christensen is one of six drivers to lose works driver status with the German manufacturer in 2021, although Porsche underlines that the 2018/19 GTE Pro world champion will still have the opportunity to represent Porsche at races.
The other five drivers to lose works status are double Le Mans winner Earl Bamber, Corvette-bound Nick Tandy, Patrick Pilet, Sven Müller, and Dirk Werner. Joining Porsche’s 14-man works driver squad are Pascal Wehrlein and Thomas Preining.
Porsche’s ex-IMSA GTLM drivers Laurens Vanthoor and Earl Bamber will continue to driver in the WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, representing the manufacturer in the GTD category alongside Patrick Long.
Bamber, Christensen and Fred Makowiecki have also been designated as drivers for the GT World Challenge Europe.
