Ex-IndyCar driver Oliver Askew will be joining Riley Motorsports’ LMP3 entry for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, making his debut in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.
The former Indy Lights champion, who spent the 2020 season racing for Arrow McLaren SP in the NTT IndyCar Series, will drive a Ligier JS P320-Gibson together with team regular Gar Robinson, Felipe Fraga and Australian Scott Andrews.
Askew will be making his sportscar debut in the Florida endurance classic, after spending previous years racing in American single seater series, winning two junior championships before graduating to IndyCar in 2020. He scored his maiden IndyCar podium at the first of two Iowa races in July.
Riley Motorsports is fielding two Ligier JS P320s in the new-for-2021 LMP3 class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.
Apart from the #74 machine, that Askew will be piloting, the team is fielding a second car for Dylan Murry and Jim Cox, whose full-season entry will be bolstered by Jeroen Bleekemolen for the Michelin Endurance Cup rounds and Austin McCusker for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
