Reigning champion da Costa tops second morning of Formula E testing

Reigning Formula E champion Antonio Felix da Costa topped the second morning of pre-season testing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain.

The Portuguese driver, who will remain with DS Techeetah for Season 7, completed 47 laps over the course of the three-hour session and produced a best time of a 1:11.948.

This was 0.101s up the road from BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Maximilian Guenther, with the 23-year-old delivering the German marque with the second-best time.

Oliver Rowland followed in third, a further 0.112s down for Nissan e.dams while double champion Jean-Eric Vergne registered the fourth quickest time in the second DS Techeetah.

Envision Virgin Racing’s Robin Frijns completed a closely grouped top five which was covered by a mere 0.390s, with the entire field split by a slender 1.052s margin.

Lucas di Grassi fronted Audi’s efforts by producing an identical time to Frijns en route to sixth. The Brazilian was followed by Sebastien Buemi who took seventh in the second Nissan IM02.

Alex Lynn set the eighth quickest time for Mahindra while Jake Dennis was again ninth for BMW. Stoffel Vandoorne completed the top 10 as the fastest Mercedes powertrain.
