Renger van der Zande will not be part of Wayne Taylor Racing’s Acura DPi line-up for the 2021 IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship.
Van der Zande has been part of the full-season line-up for the #10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-VR since 2018, but the Dutchman has confirmed on his social media that he will not be part of the team’s switch to the Acura DPi program.
In his time with the team, Van der Zande racked up back-to-back Rolex 24 at Daytona victories as well as two Petit Le Mans wins, which includes his victory last weekend.
“It’s a hard situation,” van der Zande told Sportscar365 about the news. “After Road America [in August] they told me I was the one who was going to drive for them next year.
“That makes a lot of sense because I’m here at Spa this weekend with Honda, and they will be working with Acura.
“If you look at my results over the last couple of years, winning Daytona twice and Petit Le Mans twice, and being the fastest at Daytona. I think, rationally, it’s really weird.
“Looking at the stats, there’s a really good relationship between me and the engineering group. So there was no reason that it was going to stop.”
Filipe Albuquerque is reportedly under consideration to step into the line-up for the #10 Acura ARX-05 in 2021.
