Jean-Eric Vergne secured a second consecutive pole position in the second of three double-header races in Berlin, beating team-mate Antonio Felix da Costa to the top spot.

Formula E’s reigning double champion launched his initial qualifying attempt from Group 2 to secure the fastest lap time in the opening stages, completing a 1:06.484s run – a lap matched by Oliver Rowland.

In Super Pole, da Costa opened proceedings, producing an impressive 1:06.247s lap that initially appeared to be unbeatable.

The four subsequent runners failed to match or beat the time, with Nissan’s Rowland coming the closest, still 0.305s down on the series’ champion in-waiting.

With a high-speed 1:06.107s lap, it was Vergne who successfully toppled the current championship leader, with the Frenchman finding a 0.140s advantage to complete an all-DS Techeetah front row for the ninth race of the season.

While Rowland was third, Sebastien Buemi ensured that it was a Nissan second row as the Swiss racer and Season 2 champion took fourth.

Nyck de Vries followed in fifth while Felipe Massa put in an impressive performance for Venturi, taking sixth from the third group of runners.

Outside of the Super Pole drivers, Alex Lynn again impressed for Mahindra Racing by taking seventh while a blinding run from Rene Rast saw the German pilot front Audi’s qualifying efforts in eighth.

Jerome d’Ambrosio took ninth to complete a double top 10 result for Mahindra. The Belgian was followed by Round 9 runner-up Robin Frijns.

Mitch Evans fronted Jaguar Racing’s qualifying efforts with 11th as Alexander Sims delivered BMW i Andretti Motorsport with 15th while second-placed championship man Maximilian Guenther took a disappointing 21st.
