Simon Evans made it two wins in two races on Sunday in Berlin by emerging as the victor in the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY’s reverse grid battle at Tempelhof.

Placed second in the championship, the Kiwi started the eighth 25-minute + 1 lap affair of the season from 10th on the grid, with title rival Sergio Jimenez lining up behind in 11th.

The 29-year-old maintained his position on the opening tour of the 2.355km-long venue after activating Attack Mode but it was Jimenez who found an immediate advantage, moving forward by three positions to eighth.

Out in front, Pro-Am driver Paul Spooner held the lead, but with the Saudi driver struggling for pace, a train of cars quickly formed behind, leaving first place within reach to the Pro drivers at the rear of the field.

With careful navigation, Jimenez and Evans both progressed through the pack and with 10-minutes + 1 lap left, held first and second on the road with the title fight on the line.

Holding a pocket of time over third-placed runner Gregory Segers, Evans armed and activated Attack Mode with two-minutes remaining and again on the penultimate lap, closing the gap to the leader.

With the power boost device running low, the Kiwi launched an attack up the inside of Jimenez in Turn 6 on the final tour of the circuit, taking the lead as the Brazilian darted to the Attack Zone, desperate to re-gain the position.

Opening a 1.194s advantage, Evans was victorious, with Jimenez taking second while Bueno completed the podium – his fifth in succession despite a slow start to the race.

The five-time Stock Car Brasil champion overtook Segers in the dying stages of the race, with the 19-year-old Frenchman taking fourth.

Fahad Algosaibi won in Pro-Am by completing the top five while VIP driver Abbie Eaton was sixth ahead of Takuma Aoki.

After starting from pole position, Spooner finished in eighth place while Adalberto Baptista was the final classified finisher, with Alice Powell and Nick Foster failing to see the chequered flag.
