Mike Rockenfeller, DTM racer and Audi factory driver, has initiated his own charity e-sports series on Gran Turismo Sport under the motto #RaceHome.

Players at home will be able to compete against both simracing professionals and the six Audi DTM factory drivers in the fully-electric Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo.

PlayStation Network members will have the opportunity to win a spot on the grid each week by creating and publishing a design for the car, with the most creative design earning a spot on the grid.

The entries will be judged by the six factory drivers: Rockenfeller, Robin Frijns, Nico Müller, Loic Duval, Jamie Green and reigning champion Rene Rast.

“Since there are no real races happening at the moment, because of the corona crisis, SimRacing is experiencing an incredible boom,” Rockenfeller said. “We are deliberately going our own way: #RaceHome is focusing on sports cars with electric drive and is therefore in line with Audi’s focus topic in the change of mobility. We have decided on a console game because we can reach a particularly large community in this way.”

According to Audi, #RaceHome aims to generate as many donations as possible to be used for charity projects within the motorsport family.

“There are many freelancers in motorsport who have lost their income from one day to the next and are fearing for their own existence,” Rockenfeller added.

All races will be streamed live on streaming platform Twitch, with the first event scheduled for April 21.
