Aron Canet led the way in Qatar Moto2 FP3 for MAX Racing, while Joe Roberts FP2 leading time was enough to keep him at the top of the combined times.

Roberts therefore is the lead rider heading directly to Q2, with the VR46 pair of Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini following close behind in the combined standings.

Tetsuta Nagashima remained the highest-placed Ajo Motorsport rider in fourth overall, while Canet’s FP3 topping benchmark was enough to leave him fifth combined.

Fabio Di Gianantonio managed to slot his factory Speed Up machine sixth overall ahead of Xavi Vierge’s Petronas SRT Kalex and the improving Enea Bastianani in eighth.

The top ten in the combined times was completed by the sole remaining Marc VDS representative Augusto Fernandez and the NTS of Bo Bensneyder.

Remy Gardner improved at the death to snatch 11th in the combined standings and a direct passage into the pole shootout later on, despite his second crash in as many days-tucking the front of his SAG Racing bike at the fast Turn 15-, joining Nicolo Bulega, Jorge Martin and Thomas Luthi in the session.

Jorge Navarro meanwhile was the unlucky man to be denied by Gardner’s late improvement, with 16th overall meaning he has to compete in Q1 to secure one of the final four places in order to take part in the pole shootout.

Joining him in Q1 are several other big names, including both the Pons machines of Lorenzo Baldassarri and Hector Garzo, as well as Marcel Schrotter and Jake Dixon on the second SRT-the Brit managing an encouraging eighth in the FP3 times.
