WEC outfit Ginetta launches scheme to find next development driver
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ginetta, the company behind the Team LNT FIA WEC outfit, has announced a scheme that aims to find the team’s next development driver.

The company has announced that it will invite selected drivers driving in any of Ginetta’s 2020 championship or drive Ginetta material in other championship to have the opportunity to become development driver. The top 3 championship finishers in the Ginetta G55 Supercup will be guaranteed a place in the evaluation that will take place at the end of the 2020 season.

The award winner will be granted a full-time position as a Ginetta factory development driver, mentored by the company’s LMP1 factory drivers Charlie Robertson and Mike Simpson and will also gain access to all of Ginetta’s driver development facilities as well as use of Ginetta’s Blyton Park test track facilities.

Also included in the position is a supported full-season driver with a Ginetta customer team for the 2021 season.

Ginetta’s Chairman, Lawrence Tomlinson, said, “Motor racing can be a difficult sport to penetrate. We firmly believe in breaking down these barriers at Ginetta and opening up more ways for people to get on track, whether for the very first time at a track day, or by providing a step-up for talented youngsters with our Junior scholarship programme. Today’s announcement overcomes another of these hurdles for progressing drivers seeking to join the elite ranks of paid, professional racers.”
