Wayne Taylor Racing tops final Roar practice session

The 2020 Roar Before the 24 has ended with the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-VR setting the fastest time.

In a session where a fair number of teams chose not to participate, the Konica Minolta-branded Cadillac set the quickest time at 01:34:533 at the hands of Kamui Kobayashi, which was just under two-tenths quicker than the #77 Mazda RT24-P of Oliver Jarvis. Loic Duval was third in the #5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi-VR.

In LMP2, Tower Motorsport by Starworks topped the sheets with their #8 ORECA 07-Gibson, with Harrison Newey second for Dragonspeed’s #81 ORECA 07-Gibson.

Porsche closed out a positive weekend at Daytona by taking a one-two in the final session. Earl Bamber went round the Daytona International Speedway with a time of 01:42:965 in the #912 Porsche 911 RSR-19, two-tenths ahead of the #911 of Matt Campbell. Risi Competizione was third with their #82 Ferrari 488 GTE, ahead of the two Corvettes and BMWs.

Alvaro Parente took top honours in GTD with a 01:46:155 in the #57 Heinricher Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo, ahead of the #44 GRT Magnus Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, while the all-female #19 GEAR Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo took third.

A number of cars, including both Team Penske Acuras, the #55 Mazda RT24-P, and the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-VR did not complete any laps.
