Marco Sorensen believes Aston Martin has to strike back in Bahrain after losing what was looking like certain victory in Shanghai.
During last month's 4 Hours of Shanghai, Sorensen and team-mate Nicki Thiim were holding a strong lead in the #95 Aston Martin Vantage AMR, until Thiim suffered a rear puncture, which damaged the car and cost the team to win. As a result, the duo lost a strong points haul, putting them on the back foot for this weekend's 8 Hours of Bahrain.
When asked by Motorsport Week if the #95 crew needs to strike back, Sorensen replied:
"We have to. It’s quite simple actually. Obviously, it was some bad points to lose, because it kind of puts us in a situation where we have to kind of get above at least some of the Porsche, you know, to get gain a little bit back in the championship."
Sorensen and Thiim now sits in thid place in the championship with twelve points, behind both Porsche pairs.
"So that pressure is on now," Sorensen concluded.
"If we would have gotten the points from Shanghai, we would be leading and then you could manage, and if they were quicker here you could just kind of stick with it, but now it puts us in that place where you need to definitely, it needs to be a clever race or somehow get them in the race"
