Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli has confirmed the compounds that it will bring to the opening four grands prix of the 2020 season.
It was revealed on Tuesday that the tyre company’s 2020 specification of rubber has been unanimously rejected by teams, meaning the 2019 tyres will be used through next year.
Shortly afterwards Pirelli confirmed the compounds for the first four rounds, due to the 14-week deadline in determining the available tyres at flyaway races.
The C2s, C3s and C4s will be taken to events in Australia, Bahrain, Vietnam and China.
It is one step softer than the corresponding choice made for Bahrain in 2019, while it matches the compounds selected for Australia and China this year; Vietnam is a new event for 2020.
As per 2019 Pirelli mandates one set of each compound for every driver, after which they are free to choose from the nominated compound for 10 of the remaining 13 sets.
One set of the Soft tyres, in this instance the C4s, must be used only in Q3, while either the Hards (C2s) or Mediums (C3s) must be run for one stint of the race, assuming dry conditions prevail.
