Extending championship lead ‘the only goal’ for TF Sport in Bahrain

TF Sport is heading into the Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain with a three point lead in the GTE Am standings. According to Salih Yoluc, the team's main goal for the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship is to extend that championship lead.

With the race being longer than the previous three, more points are on offer as well. Victory on Saturday means 38 points, instead of the regular 25.

"We are on good form now, and our only wish is to continue to that," said Yoluc. "Bahrain is obviously a high point race and we are carrying the maximum success ballast possible, so that will make things interesting.

But I do have trust in myself and in my team in that we have the quality to overcome this and come away with a good result. Extending the championship lead is the only goal!"

The British squad is heading into Bahrain with plenty of momentum. Yoluc, Jonny Adam and Charlie Eastwood have won both the Fuji and Shanghai rounds of the championship in the #90 Aston Martin Vantage AMR.

“I’m really excited to head back to Bahrain for the next round in the WEC calendar," Jonny Adam added. "It’s one of my favourite circuits and I still believe with 45kg added, we as a team can still deliver a good result. Big points are up for grabs in this eight-hour race, so bring on Bahrain!”

Due to the success of previous rounds, the team will be carrying substantial extra weight thanks to the Success Ballast system. LMP1 and GTE Am are the only classes with these kinds of regulations.

"I can’t wait to finish off the 2019 season in Bahrain," said Charlie Eastwood. Success ballast has its negatives; the eight-hour race will be very difficult, but it also means we have been strong. Until now we have been, so fingers crossed for another good result."
