Mario Haberfeld will replace Caca Bueno at Jaguar Brazil Racing for the first two races of the 2019/20 Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY season.

The 1998 British Formula 3 champion will stand in for Bueno in the opening weekend of the championship's second campaign, with the Season 1 runner-up racing at Goiania in the Stock Car Brasil championship this weekend.

Haberfeld's outing with the team alongside reigning champion Sergio Jimenez will mark his competitive return to motor racing, with the Brazilian ending a 10-year absence from the cockpit this weekend.

Following on from his championship success in 1998, Haberfeld competed in Formula 3000 from 1999-2002, later racing in the Champ Car World Series in 2003.

"It’s an honour to compete in Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY, the first touring electric cars series," said Haberfeld.

"When I got the invitation from the Brazilian Team, to replace Cacá Bueno it was quite a surprise as I haven’t raced for over 10 years, but I’m sure it will be a really fun weekend.

"I’m inquisitive to drive the I-PACE, as this will be my first time competing in an electric car. I’ve talked to Cacá, in order to get some tips about the car, and I hope I will do two good races in Saudi Arabia.

"It will be an honour to race for the Team Brazil and be back to represent my country."

Bueno will return to the cockpit at the third round of the 2019/20 season in Mexico City.

The second season of the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY will commence later this week a double-header round in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on November 22 and 23.
