Moto2 rider Iker Lecuona will make an early MotoGP debut after he was called up to replace Miguel Oliveira at the Tech 3 KTM team for the final race of the 2019 season in Valencia.

Oliveira has been forced to miss the event and post-race test after having successful surgery on the ligaments on his right shoulder.

The move has presented 19-year-old Lecuona an opportunity to get acquainted with the team, as the Spaniard has already been confirmed to line-up alongside the Oliveira at the Tech 3 KTM for the 2020 season.

Lecuona will also ride in the post-race test at the Ricardo Tormo circuit as he will begin preparations for 2020.

"To have this opportunity in my home Grand Prix is a proud moment for me," Lecuona told MotoGP.com .

"We must enjoy this beautiful experience, but above all learn as much as possible for the future.

"All this would not have been possible without the help and encouragement of Hervé Poncharal, as well as Eitan Butbul and the American Racing Team amazing crew, they helped me to grow as a rider and as a person.

"I also want to wish the best possible recovery to Oliveira, who will be my teammate next season. I will give my best in Valencia as I always do."

MotoAmerica Supersport rider Sean Dylan Kelly will fill the seat left by Lecuona at the Moto2 monday.com American Racing
